Juca Fiis (1989) works between art, architecture, and education, and one of their favorite practices is to work in collaboration with children. They have participated in artistic and educational residencies, including Documenta fifteen in Kassel; ART OMI in Hudson, NY; Demonstra in Lisbon, Portugal; Pivô in São Paulo; Fahrende Raum in Munich; QMA in Vienna; and Museo Tamayo in Mexico City. They have worked in education at the Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro, as a consultant leading workshops at Museu do Amanhã, and as a member of the Educational Council at Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage, also in Rio de Janeiro. Their participation in symposiums and talks includes Oficina Francisco Brennand in Recife, Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Hildesheim University in Germany, and Drawing Projects in the United Kingdom.

The work 4 (2023), from the pipoca doce series, is about “learning from the corn’s courage to become–sweet–popcorn.” It was exhibited at Fuzuerê, an event for children featuring workshops, a group exhibition, and a broad program held at Galpão Bela Maré in 2023, in partnership with Solar dos Abacaxis and curated by Matheus Morani. It was also shown at Glória Artbooks in 2024.
