Leticia Ramos (1976) explores the limits of analog image production and interpretation through photography and film—which also extends to installations, objects, publications, and performance. Her practice moves between the aesthetic intersections of the documentary and the fictional, traversing natural and imaginary landscapes, historical narratives, and invented figures, while exploring the relationship between graphic memory and the nature of the abstract and the spectral.

Starting with rigorous technical and formal processes, the artist emulates aspects of scientific expeditions but only to lead us through ambiguous and timeless objects and themes. In doing so, she builds inventive photographic apparatuses—such as cameras, models, and sets—to consider the use of these supports as elements of speculation, representation, and construction of geographic and poetic terrains.

About planisfério fotograma 03 (2019), the artist says:

“My relationship with the research process is very intense, as there is only a clue as a starting point. I need to be immersed in the subject that interests me to find a map that can lead me to a formal synthesis. In the works, this is combined with a reinterpretation of the technique. The medium is also investigated and later reveals the aesthetic tools that will be used in the construction of the image.”
