Anti Ribeiro (1995) is an artist, sound designer, DJ, educator, and curator in audiovisual arts. A graduate in cinema and audiovisual from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE), she develops a transdisciplinary practice aligned with the propositions of sonic fiction — a concept developed by Kodwo Eshun — exploring sound as a speculative, narrative, and political territory. Her work investigates expanded forms of narrative and sonic creation, crossing different artistic languages and proposing sensory experiences that destabilize aesthetic and epistemological conventions.
Recent projects include Ficção Como Arma de Guerra and Ficção Sônica: o encontro entre a ficção científica e a sonoridade, held as educational workshops through which the artist shares her investigations on sound, imagination, and cultural critique. Her sound compositions have been presented at events such as the Venice Biennale (Italy, 2022), Festival TONO (Mexico), Festival AIR (USA), and Serpentine Pavilion (UK), among others.
Quinto Estrondo is part of the series Estrondos (340 m/s), which stems from the study of air behavior at the moment lightning occurs. The electrical discharges cause the air surrounding the event to expand, producing a thunderous noise. For this reason, the works in this series were conceived to be filled with air and to evoke the presence of fire. It was previously shown in Pôr Defesa – Galeria Amparo 60’s stand at Rotas Brasileiras (2024) and Pôr Defesa – Exhibition at Galeria Amparo 60 in Recife (2024).
