Ernesto Neto (1964) lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. Since the beginning of his career, the artist has sought to challenge and expand the vocabulary of sculpture, exploring formal and symbolic connections between different materials, with gravity as an implicit element. In recent years, Neto has turned to natural materials, such as fabrics and wood, and to physical interaction as a fundamental aspect of his poetics. Organic forms echo the matrices and colors of living organisms. His works activate multiple senses, inviting us into meditative states and into a reconnection with the sacred. He has developed his practice across numerous solo and group exhibitions, as well as biennials.
The form in Symbio CorpoCor AA (2023) was extrapolated from the image of an open hand. In this silkscreen print, contrasting colors coexist—just as the body coexists with space, and the sea coexists with the land.
