Brisa Noronha (1990) works with various media such as drawing, painting, photography, video, ceramics, and porcelain. Her research revolves around the active participation of matter throughout the creative process, paying attention to the paths, limits, and instabilities defined through contact with each material. Her works are associated with a practice-based investigation, resulting from experiments that bridge intentional action and the unexpected, order and spontaneity.
She holds a master’s degree in visual arts from Universidade de São Paulo (2020–2023), and Bachelor’s degrees in both Social Communication from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (2015) and Visual Arts from Faculdade Santa Marcelina (2015). In 2017, she received a grant from the Freedom to Create programme, at Arteles artist residency, Finland. In 2015, she was awarded at the 22º Salão de Artes Plásticas de Praia Grande, São Paulo.
Her solo exhibitions include Todos os corpos frágeis, Luisa Strina, São Paulo (2025); MIA Anywhere, MIA Collection Virtual Museum (2020); As saboneteiras, Museu de Arte de Ribeirão Preto (2019); and Guardar uma coisa, Galeria Murilo Castro, Belo Horizonte (2018). She has also participated in group exhibitions that have opened important dialogues in the contemporary art scene, such as Mãe, Espaço Cama, São Paulo (2022); Semana Sim, semana não: paisagens, corpos e cotidianos entre um século, Casa Zalszupin, São Paulo (2022); Diamante-grafite-carvão, Fonte, São Paulo (2021); and Nothing’s gonna change my world?, Gr_und, Berlin (2021), among others.
In Brisa Noronha’s practice, painting is part of an investigation into the systems and objects that, in various ways, sustain life. Nada acontecendo à noite (2025) consists of thin layers of oil paint—diluted and translucent—that create a porous and luminous surface. In compositions like this, domestic objects often appear suspended, between dream and memory.
