Leandro Estevam (1985) lives in Salvador. He is visual artist and designer trained at Escola de Belas Artes da UFBA and at the workshops of Museu de Arte Moderna da Bahia. His projects unfold across multiple languages, most often drawing and the use of word-image as a poetic device. Since 2008, he has developed authorial work focused on the natural history of colonialism, regional/modern Brazilian architecture, and the urban ecosystem, in its difficult overlays. He appropriates and reconfigures the aesthetics of botanical illustration, landscaping, and gardening as instruments of research.

He presented his first solo show Canteiro de Obras in Mexico City (2018) and has participated in exhibitions such as Bienal do Recôncavo, Salão de Abril, and Leilão do Pivô, receiving awards in the Salões Regionais de Artes Visuais. He took part in artist residencies at Pivô Pesquisa (2021), Kaysaà Art Residence (2021), and PEMBA Residência Preta (2022). He is the author of the book Diário do pó (2018) and has been featured in publications such as Pisegrama, ForbesLife Brasil, Kaza, Zupi, and IdeaFixa. He is part of the jury of the 15th Prêmio Brasileiro de Design in the Design de Ambiente category (2025).

In Force field (2025), Estevam works from the concept in the work’s title: in Physics, a region of space where an object with specific properties (such as mass or charge) exerts influence over other objects without physical contact, through invisible fields like gravitational, electric, or magnetic ones. In fiction and media, a power or ability through which an individual creates an energetic barrier for protection, imprisonment, or defense. Bringing the concept into a racial discourse, the idea is to celebrate this space of belonging and protection created through the interaction among Black people, who together multiply their power to exist. A field capable of producing change within a project or situation.
