Sem título (2024) is a watercolor on paper that was included, alongside 80 other works, in the artist’s solo exhibition at Instituto Tomie Ohtake (2025), curated by Paulo Miyada. The exhibition’s title, Diapasão, refers to the tuning fork used as a reference for tuning and, in this context, suggests visual experience as a faculty capable of attuning our perception of space, color, and matter.
Marina Perez Simão (1980) explores the boundaries of abstraction, evoking a sense of wonder by layering and juxtaposing colors to capture light, and creating compositions that transcend the tangible world by “painting where words fail.” Rather than serving reality, her paintings follow their own internal logic, representing alternative worlds and possibilities. Simão lives and works in São Paulo.
