Milena Ferreira (1992) is a visual artist, currently pursuing a master’s degree in visual arts at UFBA, and lives in Salvador. She researches printmaking in dialogue with painting, sculpture, and installation, taking the aesthetics of ruins as a reference for memory and belonging. Her work investigates how ruins participate in the construction of collectivity, territory, and identity, creating images that situate fragility as an aesthetic and political force.
casa 01 e casa 07 (2021) is part of the series Textura é sentimento (2021), from a moment when the artist began to focus on textures, especially on the pores of surfaces and “things.” These are collages made from materials collected from homes that form part of her affective memory of Salvador, in a kind of archaeological research. Layers of paint, acrylic paste, and plaster are superimposed, and, when turned inside out, show themselves as traces of survival.
The work was at the exhibitions No Corpo do Olho, Pelas Mãos do Mundo, NoNada, Salvador (2025); and Vestígios, Galeria RV Cultura e Arte, Salvador (2021).
