Novíssimo Edgar (1993) is a multidisciplinary artist living between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Working with poetry, visual arts, music, and performance, his practice explores metalinguistic experimentation and transmedia narrative. Edgar’s work moves fluidly between mediums, drawing from urban culture, language, and personal narrative to create a body of work rooted in autonomy, expression, and the intersections between identity and form.
Instrumentos contra ansiedade 7 (2024) is part of the series Instruments Against Anxiety, in which each sculpture has the function of an amulet. For Novíssimo Edgar, the production of these objects is “the culmination of the battle against anxiety, resulting in the totality of the thought that silently corrodes from within.” After visiting and experiencing the Bispo do Rosário Museum, the artist conceives and titles the sculptures through changes in patterns and compositions. Named O.R.F. (Objeto Revestido de Fio), the Instruments change colors according to intuition, inspired by the vocabulary O.R.F.A. (Objetos Revestidos com Fio Azul), used by Bispo do Rosário.
