VICO (2000) is a visual artist, painter, and drawer who lives, studies, and works in Salvador. They hold a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary arts from Universidade Federal da Bahia (2020–2024), where they are currently pursuing a degree in visual arts (2025). Their artistic journey began in early childhood, in pediatrics, during leukemia treatment, when they came into contact with clowning and storytelling. Their research is self-referential, centered on their own childhood, paralleled with the exploration of their gender identity. They create images that allude to playful, interpretive, and delicate visual narratives, highlighting the techniques employed and embracing the accidents from the creative process.

Throughout his career, they were part of Estúdio Kombigogh (2021), a collective of artists from Vitória da Conquista, where they produced and sold their works and offered watercolor workshops. In 2023, they exhibited at the Congresso Estudantil, UFBA, and in 2025 participated in the special CAB+ edition of the Circuito de Arte em Boteco (CAB). In the same year, their works were shown at Casa Cor Bahia.

i was afraid (2025) arises from a factual childhood memory of the artist: the moment when a temperamental goose in the square became aggressive in its pursuit of popcorn. Upon the fabric of this memory, the painting takes form through objective brushstrokes and chance stains, at times revealing and at times concealing the image of the amusing recollection. One fact is that birds—especially geese—can be interpreted in the artist’s paintings as God, which opens a range of possible readings of the work.
