Eneida Sanches (1962) lives and works in São Paulo. She graduated in architecture and urbanism from UFBA, took courses at Escola de Belas Artes da Universidade Federal da Bahia, and studied metal engraving at MAM Bahia’s workshops. Since 2000, she has been presenting works related to the theme of Transe, using engraving in expanded forms—as objects, installations, and mapping projections.

She has participated in exhibitions and shown work at institutions such as: XXIV Salão de Artes MAM Bahia; Festival Vídeo Brasil (SP); 3ª Bienal da Bahia; Estratégias do Feminino, Farol Santander; Mercosur Biennial; Salão Anapolino de Artes Visuais; Centro Cultural São Paulo (CCSP); Modernistas Desde Aquí, Paço das Artes (SP); 37º Panorama da Arte Brasileira, MAM SP; Contemporary Center for Arts, Rockland, Maine (USA); Dos Brasis, Sesc Belenzinho, São Paulo; Direito à Forma, Galeria Fonte, Inhotim, Brumadinha; Lélia Gonzalez, Sesc Vila Mariana, São Paulo; Mãos – 35 anos da Mão Afro Brasileira, MAM SP; and Ancestral, CCBB in SP, BH, RJ, and BA.

Untitled is part of the Transe series, which Sanches has been developing since 2000. The bull’s eye present in this work is a hallmark element of her practice. It reflects the relationship the artist establishes between religious trance and artistic process, inviting viewers to explore different perspectives of the object, panel, or installation—suggesting movement in front of the work. The piece has been exhibited at Galeria Lica Pedrosa.
