ABOUT THE AUCTION
Pivô is an autonomous contemporary art platform dedicated to exchange, research, and artistic experimentation. Approaching its 15th anniversary, it has consistently created conditions and alternative models to foster critical thinking and contemporary artistic production. Throughout this history, we have presented more than 70 exhibitions, 100 public programs, and collaborated with over 600 artists.
The institution’s first venue, Pivô Copan, is located in downtown São Paulo, where it established its experimental and collaborative approach. In 2023, Pivô inaugurated its second venue, in Salvador: Pivô Boulevard, housed in a historic mansion that once served as a gathering place for movements such as Tropicália and Cinema Novo. This expansion and the institution’s presence in both cities reinforce Pivô’s commitment to decentralization and network-building.
The expansion in Salvador will continue with the opening of Pivô Coaty, on Ladeira da Misericórdia, occupying buildings designed by Lina Bo Bardi and João Filgueiras Lima. Across its three venues, Pivô shares the mission of occupying and reactivating historically significant sites, transforming them into vibrant cultural centers that foster artistic dialogue and community engagement.
The auction, one of the institution’s main sources of funding, is a charitable event that enables our commitment to keeping Pivô’s spaces open to all with high-quality programming, while increasingly supporting the work of artists from different contexts and generations. In each edition, artists who are part of Pivô’s network donate their works to be auctioned and may choose to receive 50% or donate 100% of the final sale value. Supporting Pivô also means helping to ensure its role as a catalyst for contemporary Brazilian artistic production.
ABOUT PIVÔ
Pivô, an autonomous contemporary art platform founded in 2012, is dedicated to research, exchange, and artistic experimentation through commissioned projects, exhibitions, residencies, publications, and public programs, establishing itself as a space for critical reflection and collaborative creation on both national and international scales. With its original headquarters in the Copan Building in São Paulo and new locations in Salvador — Pivô Boulevard, in the historic Boulevard Suíço, and the forthcoming Pivô Coaty, on Ladeira da Misericórdia, in buildings designed by Lina Bo Bardi and João Filgueiras Lima — the institution reinforces its commitment to decentralization, the activation of symbolic sites, and the construction of diverse cultural networks. Operating as a connected network, Pivô is more than a set of physical spaces: it is a dynamic field of artistic dialogue that has welcomed hundreds of artists and continues to foster the circulation of situated knowledge and community engagement.
